After flying for most of the day, I needed some dinner when I got in town. After trying unsuccessfully trying to find another place, La Michoacana was the next closest. That worked out really well. It's a small place and you order at the counter and take a seat, they'll bring your food out. Service is great and the menu is very big for a place this size. They have a few different sauces you can get for yourself on the side that range from mild to fairly hot. I tried three of them, they're all delicious! I was amazed by all the choices of meat. I got two shrimp tacos and two habanero pork ones. Both kinds were absolutely delicious and prepared incredibly well. Everything was a great value and I highly recommend coming here for some tasty Mexican food!
Formica countertops, pump sauces, a fridge for drinks. Ambiance and atmosphere it ain't. But it has amongst the best simple tacos, and varieties, in C'ville. Inexpensive and buckets beyond the 1000 calorie torpedoes we've been brainwashed to imagine are Mexican food ( ... chipotle) Grab and go.
Fantastic authentic Mexican food, some of the best I've ever had outside of California
For 18 months, I have been looking for a great Mexican place in Charlottesville and I have finally found it. Not only are the people nice the food is fantastic. They're a very good moly and the hot sauces are really good. This will be a place we go back to. The steak tacos were very good and the Chilaquiles with moly were incredible.
Fantastic! I'm in town to teach and would come back anytime...maybe every time!!! The chicken Tostitos were well prepared, crispy, fresh, and absolutely delicious! I highly recommend La Michoacana and will return when I come back to Charlottesville!!!
I love this cozy little spot. It just feels like home. Everything I've eaten here so far has been amazing but the Quesadillas a la Parrilla is my favorite. Everyone working is so friendly and the food comes out so quickly. They have a salsa bar with a variety of different salsas which I love. Their passion fruit agua Fresca is amazing. There is parking right out front and some additional parking towards the back/side of the building. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Such an amazing authentic spot!
Solid 4.5. Legit Mexican food, not typical TexMex with free chips n salsa. Small dining area with some outdoor seating too. Everything is a la carte...and delicious LOL. Staff are patient and helpful. Our clan of 6 enjoyed chips x2 and queso, Flautas, Nachos Supreme x2, Quesabirria, Tostadas, and Tacos. Totaled over $90 with tip. Gotta love corn tortillas to feed gluten free peeps and a made fresh daily, self-serve authentic salsa bar. Quesabirria was a Saturday only special; dipping soup tasty but prob not best on a 95 degree day. Tacos were above average at first BUT instantly elevated when salsa added. Parking lot is easy to miss; not a ton of spaces but many people just Tetris'd themselves in.
Such good AUTHENTIC food. Always full of Hispanic people so you know the food slaps. Portions are huge and the guys working are so nice! And the food.... The food is next level. Do yourself a favor and check it out!
